Start a bicycle service notebook

Record the bicycle’s make, model and identifying information in a private place. Add the sizes and specifications you can verify from its documentation. Keep receipts and service notes together rather than relying on memory.

After a ride, write down any new noise, handling change or visible issue, including when it occurs. Do not keep riding a bicycle that may be unsafe; have a qualified mechanic assess it. Clear observations can make that conversation more useful.

When work is completed, record the date and what was done. Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidance for your particular equipment. A notebook supports proper maintenance; it does not replace it.
